85% of a child's brain is developed by the age of 3. By age 5 their brain is 90% developed. If a child does not get adequate exposure to language, reading, singing, rhyming, and talking by the time they are 5 years old and entering school, they are going to be behind – as much as 2 years behind. Research shows that they will likely never catch up.
Our whole language development starts from birth and goes through middle school as we develop vital learning, reading, and speaking skills. Children who are provided books and who are read to early and often develop strong language and communication skills and are more likely to start school at the right level and ready to learn.
Parents and teachers confirm that kids who participate in the Ferst Readers program become better students, better overall learners, and better contributors to their own education and ultimately their community.
