Many thanks to Ellijay Dairy Queen
Ellijay DQ donated 10% of all sales between 4-8pm on January 22 to Kids Ferst - Gilmer County's chapter of the Ferst Readers Literacy Program. Volunteers were present to register local children (birth to age 5) to receive FREE age-appropriate books delivered to their homes. Thank you to all who came out for your favorite Blizzard, burger or other DQ delight to help Give a Kid a Book!
Congratulations to the lucky winner!
Kids Ferst held a joint fundraiser with the Kiwanis Club to raise money for both organizations. The raffle winner received a 7-day/6-night stay at a fabulous condo in Orlando, Florida. Proceeds from raffle ticket sales will benefit both the Ferst Readers Program and the Kiwanis Club of Gilmer County.
Kids Ferst in Gilmer County is proud to join the global movement for childhood literacy which brings together over 2 million children and adults on one day each year to read the same book on the same day. Every year Read for the Record introduces a new story destined to be the next "favorite book." Learn more at the link below...

Many thanks to those who visited Buffalo Luke's to support Kids Ferst.
Volunteers were at Buffalo Luke's in East Ellijay recently telling folks about the Ferst Readers program, registering children to receive books, accepting donations, and welcoming new volunteers. Kids Ferst received 20% of sales during that time. Every penny will go toward the cost of sending age-appropriate books to Gilmer County children age 0-5.
You can help create better learners, brighter futures, and a stronger community by giving every child under five access to quality books in their homes.
